Crimson Scholars Circle Students Brainstorm Organization Ideas

Every Thursday, you can find the Crimson Scholars Circle students in Elkin Hall’s Great Room, connecting with their peers and mentors, learning about new information, and working together to creatively problem solve. 

Student Affairs VP Facilitates Leadership Workshop for UMI Speaker Series

On Tuesday, September 28, UBORA Men of IUP (UMI) welcomes Thomas Segar, vice president for Student Affairs at IUP, as a guest speaker. Segar will present, “Learning to Lead Today for Tomorrow,” a part of the UMI Speaker Series.  All Black and Brown students who identify as male are invited and encouraged to attend this free event. 

IUP Homecoming Returns!

Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s annual Homecoming celebration, October 1 through October 3, is expected to draw thousands to Indiana for alumni reunions and events for the entire community, including the annual parade and football game.

IUP Homecoming Crimson Court Selected by Students

Each year, students are chosen through a university-wide student vote to serve on the Crimson Court as representatives of their academic colleges. Traditionally, the court participates in the Homecoming parade, attends the Crimson Huddle alumni and friends event before the football game, and is honored on the field during halftime. They also are invited to participate in college-related activities by their respective deans.

The Black Experience at IUP: Improve It with Your Voice

Black students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a discussion with an IUP alumni committee that aims to improve the academic success and social experience of Black students at IUP. Kicking off Homecoming weekend, this Fireside Chat with the Black Experience Alumni Committee will be Thursday, September 30, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room.

#IUPLeads is Back for Homecoming 2021

As it has done in recent years, the Division for Student Affairs is promoting #IUPLeads during the upcoming, high-celebratory Homecoming weekend. But this time, the division is focusing on individual students to make a difference via their personal social media accounts.

FCC Announces New Program Offering Internet Discount to Struggling Students and Families

On May 4, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission announced its new Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. The program will offer internet discounts to students and families who have been struggling to get online throughout the pandemic. Students who received Federal Pell Grants have been identified as an eligible population.

The 2020–21 school year is quickly ending. With all of its challenges, we have lots of bright spots at IUP.  One such accomplishment is the IUP Guide Program. If you haven’t had a chance to read about the program, we encourage you to do so.

The Healing Garden Memorial Service will take place on Monday, May 3, at 12:30 p.m. in the Wallwork Hall Courtyard. Join us as we remember and honor those lost from our IUP family this year.

First Fun! (Then, Finals)

We’re almost there! With finals right around the corner, the Division of Student Affairs is celebrating the end of spring classes with “First Fun! Then, Finals” on Friday, April 30. The day will feature three free events that are open for anyone to attend. We invite the entire campus to join in on a fun day of relaxation before finals begin.

#IUPLeads Pivots to COVID-19 Safety and Mental Health Messaging from Student Groups

For the past several years, the #IUPLeads campaign has provided an outlet for IUP student groups to share alternatives to attending large, unofficial campus gatherings during high-celebratory events.  This year, considering COVID-19 and the difficulties IUP students face regarding increased mental health issues, the campaign pivoted its function by encouraging student groups to share messages about these challenges via social media.
