Benjamin Presents on Living-Learning Communities During Challenging Times

Mimi Benjamin presented “Engaging Students Through Living-Learning Communities Through Challenging Times” at the National Virtual Learning Communities summit on October 23, 2020.  The conference aimed to address new challenges in higher education as a response to uncertain times.

Thomas Segar, Student Affairs Vice President, thanks students for following the social distancing and face covering guidelines in place for campus during the first days of classes.

Community Standards Board Training Scheduled For August 26-27

The Office of Student Support and Community Standards is offering an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to participate in board training. Once trained, they can serve as board members in some of the most serious community standards cases. Students and faculty members will also be able to serve on academic integrity boards.

ATOD Changes Its Name

The Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs program has been renamed Student Wellness and Engagement. This change will enhance the university’s goal to deliver strong student support and an engaging community, working in tandem with the new Student Support and Engagement Team.

Guides Lining Up to Serve Students

We asked, and you answered the call! The Student Support and Engagement Team is proud to announce that 67 staff and faculty members have signed up for the Guide Program. If you’re still interested in being a Guide, it isn’t too late to sign up as an alternate.

SGA Hosts Anti-Racism Town Hall

Fifty members of the IUP community—faculty, staff, students, and recent graduates—wrestled with the question of how IUP can address the issue of racism during an Anti-Racism town hall Thursday night, organized by IUP’s Student Government Association.

New Name for Office of Student Conduct

In response to student need during COVID-19, the Office of Student Conduct has expanded its services and will now be named the Office of Student Support and Community Standards.

Student Support and Engagement Team (SSET) Begins Guide Recruitment

The spring semester has posed a lot of challenges to higher education and IUP.  With those challenges, come opportunity.  The Student Support and Engagement Team is proud to announce the Guide Program at IUP.

Four graduating students from the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education were honored for exceptional accomplishments and contributions as part of the department’s commencement video for the graduating class of 2020.

The Division of Student Affairs announces the first winners of the new Innovation Award: Julene Pinto-Dyczewski and Zack Neil from the Office of Residence Life.

Message to Students Regarding CARES Act Student Funds

IUP has received an allocation through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security program.  The CARES Act will provide institutions with federal dollars to offer emergency funds to students who have experienced unexpected educational expenses such as childcare, housing, food, technology expenses, and additional course materials as a result of the disruption from the coronavirus pandemic.

Coronavirus Information Update

At this time, IUP does not have any reported or confirmed cases of the coronavirus (also known as COVID 19 or 2019 nCov). As you may have heard on the news, the Pennsylvania Department of Health was notified of two presumptive positive COVD-19 cases in Pennsylvania.
