IUP has been recognized by national organizations and publications from the Princeton Review to Washington Monthly. We are one of just 93 public colleges in the United States designated as High Research Activity (R2) by the National Center for Postsecondary Research’s 2021 Carnegie Classification.

IUP is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, but we don't stop there. Many of our academic departments and colleges have earned additional specialized accreditation or national recognition.
