Decades in Princeton Review's “Best Colleges” Guidebook

Years Best National Universities (U.S. News & World Report)

Facts and Rankings

IUP has been recognized by national organizations and publications from the Princeton Review to Washington Monthly. We are one of just 93 public colleges in the United States designated as High Research Activity (R2) by the National Center for Postsecondary Research’s 2021 Carnegie Classification.

IUP is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, but we don't stop there. Many of our academic departments and colleges have earned additional specialized accreditation or national recognition.

Our Impact

IUP's 150,000+ alumni have made their impact felt around the world. From acting as leaders within their local communities, to taking on vital challenges in their industries, IUP alumni are making a difference.

But it all starts regionally in Indiana County. Each year, IUP's students boost their local economy—shopping at stores and restaurants, working at area businesses, and volunteering in the community.

IUP History

Founded nearly 150 years ago, IUP has grown into a world-renowned, highly affordable university spread over 374 beautiful acres. We’re serious about our everyday commitment to support our students, and we’re incredibly proud of their success.
