It’s that time of year! With Spring Break right around the corner and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations soon after, it is incredibly important to make sure that you and your friends are familiar with safety and security procedures. To help facilitate that, this year, IUP is holding Student Safety Week.
This series of events is designed to help students better understand what to do in emergency situations. Although we hope you won’t need to use these skills, it is important to know them all the same. All of the workshops will require you to RSVP by February 27. Below is a list of the events and their dates:
March 2: Hands-Only CPR and AED Training
Hands-only CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training is an essential skill for anyone, as it can save lives during emergencies like cardiac arrest.
March 4: Self Defense and Safety Awareness Training
A session on self-defense and safety awareness that highlights how to protect yourself, avoid dangerous situations, and what to do if you find yourself in one.
March 6: Narcan and Stop the Bleed Training
The session on Narcan will focus on its importance in combating opioid overdoses. The Stop the Bleed training course is designed to teach individuals how to respond to and stop severe bleeding in emergency situations.
