Nineteen cadets from IUP’s Police Academy proudly participated in the Semper Gratus 5K (Shamrock Shuffle) on March 21, joining community members in a meaningful effort to raise funds for a local family whose daughter has been diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been honored by Military Friendly Magazine as both a 2026–27 Military Friendly School and 2026–27 Military Spouse Friendly School.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Sharon Regional Health System have announced a clinical training affiliation agreement for future students at IUP’s proposed college of osteopathic medicine.
Alumni and faculty of IUP’s Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance participated in Conemaugh Township High School’s recent production of “Matilda.” The musical was performed March 12–25, 2026.

The Statler Foundation has continued its support for Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program with a $100,000 program grant to purchase advanced hotel management software and a sixth $25,000 scholarship for an IUP student in the Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program.
Robert Vetock, a lifelong resident of Johnstown who earned his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1992, has continued his support for IUP’s student-athletes and his respect for students and alumni who are veterans with a gift of $25,000, which supports his IUP Alumni Veterans Scholarship for Athletics.

The University Museum invites the public to step behind the scenes and explore the hidden craftsmanship of stagecraft in its upcoming exhibition, The Art of Theatre. Running from March 21 through May 2, 2026, this immersive showcase reveals the technical show behind the show that transforms creative vision into theatrical reality.
A concert of opera selections performed by students and IUP faculty will take place Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. in IUP’s Gorell Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the community.
Professors Mimi Benjamin and John Wesley Lowery represented IUP at the 2026 NASPA Conference in Kansas City, contributing to multiple sessions and leadership efforts at the major student affairs gathering. Benjamin focused on strengthening academic–student affairs partnerships, while Lowery presented on higher education law, NASPA’s history, and campus culture topics, including work tied to an upcoming book.
Three Applied Archaeology MA students presented their thesis research at the Middle Atlantic Archaeological Conference, held in March. Abdul Jones won the student paper award.

IUP has received $40,000 through Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s It’s On Us PA initiative to continue the university’s work to combat campus sexual assault. IUP will use this year’s grant funds for implementation of a comprehensive, campus-wide initiative to address sexual violence with a specific and intentional focus on technology-facilitated abuse.
Safety professionals from across the region will gather at the KCAC at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 26, 2026, for the Western Pennsylvania ASSP Professional Development Conference, a full-day event focused on advancing workplace safety, health, and risk management practices.

When she came to IUP, Jessica Cochran was unsure of her path, but she found guidance, opportunity, and clarity through supportive faculty, athletic and academic scholarships, and a unique blend of business and science coursework. After graduating with a bachelor’s in marketing and a minor in biomedical science and later earning an MBA, she built a career as a medical device manager in Pittsburgh. Looking back, she says she is grateful for her IUP experience: “I got the world out of it.”
