Update on Incident in Leonard Hall; Individuals Have Been Identified

 IUP Police have identified the individuals who left the note and bullet in Jane Leonard Hall this morning. These individuals, who are currently enrolled students, are cooperating with IUP Police and confirm that their actions were not intended as a threat to any person or persons. The investigation is ongoing.

Classes and events are continuing as scheduled. Students who need support because of this incident may call the IUP Counseling Center at 724-357-2621.

Counselors are available for crisis appointments and consultation and to offer guidance and support during difficult times. After traditional business hours, students can contact the Armstrong-Indiana 24-hour Crisis Line at 877-333-2470 for support.

Rewards Offered from Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms

Do you know anything? The PA Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information that solves this case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and prosecution of the individuals responsible for this shooting.

The Emergency Management Office provides emergency planning in compliance with federal and state emergency management regulations.

The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for:

  • Developing, updating, and exercising the overall University Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Overseeing and coordinating emergency planning, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts at all locations.
  • Educating the community on how to best protect themselves by following all applicable regulations and best practices.
  • Facilitating exercises, and coordinating drills in support of the plans.
  • Notifying the community upon declaration of a state of emergency, including appropriate external Emergency Management Agencies and maintaining the University's Emergency Operations Center.
  • Coordinating centralized resources with responsible personnel at all campus locations if an emergency is declared affecting those units.
