In recognition of National CPR and AED Awareness Week, observed annually June 1–7, the American Red Cross urges individuals across the country to learn critical lifesaving skills that can help save lives during cardiac emergencies.

IUP Emergency Management supports this initiative by offering CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training courses throughout the year. These courses are designed to equip participants with essential skills, including how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform high-quality CPR, and properly use an AED.

According to the American Red Cross, immediate CPR and early defibrillation with an AED can significantly increase a person’s chances of survival during sudden cardiac arrest. By becoming trained, you can be prepared to act quickly and effectively when every second counts.

If you are interested in enrolling in CPR and AED training through IUP Emergency Management, please contact Megan Heilbrun at mkiebler@iup.edu for more information and upcoming course availability.

Help make our campus and community safer by learning how to respond in an emergency, because the life you save could be someone you love.
