Continuous Graduate Registration for Dissertation and Thesis

Following the completion of course work, including internship or practicum (excluding comprehensive exam or qualifiers), all doctoral and master's thesis students must be continuously enrolled for at least one credit of dissertation or thesis each semester (fall and spring) annually, through the graduation of the student or until the time limit is exceeded. Explanation of Fees

Activity Fee

The Activity Fee is assessed each semester on a per-credit basis. This fee is mandatory and may only be exempted if the student's academic course schedule does not require class attendance on campus for the semester. This feesupports the cost of student activities in recreation, athletics, lectures, entertainment, student organizations, student publications, etc. The fee is approved by the Student Cooperative Association Board of Directors. To request an exemption of this fee you must complete the Activity and Wellness Fee Exemption Request Form and email it to bursars-office@iup.edu. Forms are also available for completion in theOffice of Student Billing in Clark Hall.

Wellness Fee

The wellness fee is assessed each semester on a per-credit basis. This fee is mandatory and may only be exempted if the student's academic course schedule does not require class attendance on the Indiana campus for the semester. The fee is authorized by the IUP Council of Trustees. To request an exemption of this fee you must complete the Activity and Wellness Fee Waiver Request Form and email it to bursars-office@iup.edu. Forms are also available for completion in theOffice of Student Billing in Clark Hall.

Instructional Fee

The instructional fee is assessed each semester based on a per-credit rate based on BOG policy 1989-05-A. The revenue is usedfor instructional services, materials, and equipment, as well as maintenance of buildings and grounds.

Registration Fee

Theregistration feeis assessed eachsemester and is mandatoryfor all students.

Technology Tuition Fee

The technology fee is a mandatory fee assessed each semester on a per-credit basis. This fee rate is set by the Pennsylvania Board of Governors. Only exemptions approved by the BOG and/or negotiated by the employee bargaining units will apply. The technology fee revenue is used for academic or instructional technology as a direct benefit for students to help them to achieve the learning objectives of their academic programs. This fee covers items such as student computer laboratories, specialized software, hardware, databases, and licensing fees.

Transportation Fee

The transportation fee is a mandatory fee assessed each semesterit is charged to all registered students and supports transportation and parking systems.

Student Service Fee

The fee is a mandatory fee assessed on a per credit basis each semester and is used to support programming and services related to the overall studentexperience for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Additional Fees for International Students Only

Evacuation and Repatriation Fee

This fee must be paid by all international students. This fee is $85 per year. This fee is not refundable.

Immigration Fee

Following the September 11, 2001, tragedies and the implementation of the US Patriot Act, international offices across the USA are required to provide more detailed and frequent immigration information related to all international students, visitors, and their dependents. A $75 fee will be assessed each academic semester to all registered international students. Funds generated will be used to support personnel and operating costs associated with these mandatory reporting requirements. This fee is not refundable.
