Luetkehans Selected for Interim Provost Role

Lara Luetkehans, dean of Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s College of Education and Communications, has been selected by IUP President Michael Driscoll to serve in the role of interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs upon the retirement of Provost Timothy Moerland.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs to Retire August 20

Timothy S. Moerland, who has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Indiana University of Pennsylvania since January 2013, has announced his retirement from IUP, effective August 20.

IUP Will Observe Juneteenth National Freedom Day

On June 19, 2019, Governor Wolf signed legislation that designates June 19 as Juneteenth National Freedom Day in Pennsylvania. This annual holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. In recognition of this day, all IUP classes are canceled for June 18, 2021, and most university offices will be closed.

IUP Meal Plan Costs Remain at 2020 Rates; Council of Trustees Approve Additional Meal Plan Options to Provide Additional Value to Students

On May 6, 2021, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Council of Trustees approved new meal plan options for students, reducing the cost of one meal plan and holding the line on costs for all meal plans. Prices have remained static since fall 2020.

IUP Council of Trustees Present Resolution of Appreciation to Student Trustee Vertil

On May 6, 2021, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Council of Trustees presented a resolution of appreciation to Abigaelle Vertil for her service as the student member of the Council of Trustees, recognizing her for “making the most of her IUP experience, for her leadership at the university and on the IUP Council of Trustees, and for her service to all students.”

Kitas Named Executive Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Assessment; Harkleroad to Serve as Associate Director

IUP President Michael Driscoll has selected Chris Kitas to serve as the executive director of the Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Assessment, effective April 24. Lori Harkleroad will take over the position of associate director formerly held by Kitas.

President Michael Driscoll shared a message about coming together and caring for one another as the jury began deliberations in the case of the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd.

Student Virtual Town Hall to Discuss the Fall Semester, IUP NextGen, Scheduling Changes, and More

President Driscoll will host a town hall meeting for students via Zoom on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. Topics will include the fall semester and how we plan on getting “back to normal,” the impact of IUP NextGen, and the scheduling changes we’re putting in place—including additional time between classes and the Common Hour.
