IUP offers all active students, faculty, and staff free access to Read&Write, a widely used literacy-support software by Everway.

Read&Write helps students read, write, and study more effectively. Core features include text-to-speech (read aloud), scanning/OCR (convert hard-copy documents to digital text), speech-to-text (dictation), word prediction, and talking dictionaries, among other tools. It’s especially valuable for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or other conditions affecting reading and writing — though plenty of students find it useful more generally. It runs as a browser extension and toolbar, integrating with Google Docs, Microsoft Office, PDFs, and most web pages.

Install Read&Write on your personal computer or mobile device with these step-by-step instructions.

After you’ve installed Read&Write, visit their Support page for reference guides on using its tools—these vary depending on your device’s operating system.
