The Academic Affairs Division provides organizational support and leadership for the academic programs of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Offices and Programs

In addition to the academic colleges at IUP, the Division of Academic Affairs also oversees the following offices and programs:

University College

The University College was created to strengthen IUP’s tradition of promoting student success. The entire campus can utilize the University College staff and faculty to help students navigate their way through the wealth of academic services and resources available to them.

Career and Professional Development Center

The Career and Professional Development Center offers a vast array of services to help students become more confident in their professional development and networking abilities so they can make informed decisions about career opportunities.

Center for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching Excellence seeks to provide constructive and developmental mechanisms for nurturing the excellence in teaching which already exists at IUP.

IT Services

IT Services provides support to students, faculty, and support staff for the centralized computing environment at IUP.

Liberal Studies

All students must fulfill the requirements of the university's core curriculum, also known as the Liberal Studies Program.

Office of International Education

The Office of International Education assists more than 800 international students from 60 different countries during their stay at IUP and helps more than 250 students a year find education abroad.

Registrar

The Registrar's Office oversees student records, class scheduling, and policies as they pertain to the student academic experience.

Freedom of speech is not only an important individual right, it's essential to a healthy democracy and absolutely vital to the core mission of the university. 

Requests for In-Person Field Experiences

Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, students or faculty planning summer field experiences must submit one of the following documents in advance:

For official IUP field courses or any international travel, submit the IUP Travel Petition for Mission Critical Activities to the vice president of your division. For personnel in Academic Affairs, the petition form should be submitted to Executive Coordinator Holly Olexo (olexo@iup.edu).

For internships, clinical placements, student teaching, individual student field research, or joint student-faculty field research, submit the Learning Experiences Exemption Request Form. Exemption requests should be submitted to Karen Rose Cercone (kcercone@iup.edu).

Accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is one of the vitally important ways IUP serves students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community.

Inspire: INstitutional Success through Program Innovation, Redesign, and Evolution

The Inspire process will evaluate all IUP programs to determine where innovation and redesign are most needed, and also consider ideas for institutional change that could extend beyond the boundaries of a single program, college, or division.

Thompson Named Director of IUP Cook Honors College

Todd Thompson, a long-time member of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania faculty, has been selected to serve as director of the IUP Cook Honors College.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania will honor 1,452 graduates during commencement ceremonies on May 9. IUP will hold three ceremonies, all at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Todd Cunningham, who has nearly three decades of experience in higher education information technology, most recently as executive director of Information Technology Services at IUP, has been named IUP’s chief information officer.
