As a high school junior or senior, you could be earning college credits before you graduate. IUP Punxsutawney offers Dual Enrollment through two options:

  • Traditional Program
    • The traditional program allows juniors and seniors to enroll in six credits (two classes) per semester.
    • Students can potentially earn 24 college credits prior to high school graduation.

  • Healthcare Pathways Program
    • The healthcare pathways program prepares students interested in a healthcare career.
    • Students would come to campus and take one college class each semester over two years. In addition to the college courses, students would take a year-long, noncredit program.
      • Year One: a student would take Psychology in the fall semester and Developmental Psychology in the spring semester, as well as a noncredit Introduction to Healthcare program during the fall and spring semesters.
      • Year Two: a student would take Nutrition in the fall semester and Sociology in the spring semester. Students will also enroll in a First Responder Training program during the second year during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Classes are taught Monday–Thursday (possibly some Fridays) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. for both programs.

Save money while earning your degree!

  • IUP reduces tuition for dual enrollment students by 75 percent.
  • The Punxsutawney Area College Trust covers the student portion (remaining 25 percent) of the tuition and fees for Punxsutawney High School students to take dual enrollment classes at IUP Punxsutawney.
