Microsoft Office 365

  • Microsoft Office 365 is the latest office software suite from Microsoft. Office 365 is available to all enrolled students, staff, and faculty through the Microsoft campus agreement.

    The Windows download includes Word 2016, Excel 2016, Power Point 2016, One Note 2016, Outlook 2016, Publisher 2016, and Access 2016. The Mac download only includes Word 2016, Excel 2016, Power Point 2016, One Note 2016, and Outlook 2016. The Mobile download includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, Power Point Mobile, and One Note Mobile. You will not be able to install any of the Office applications on a Chromebook. You will, however, have access to the online versions of the applications.

    How to install Office 365.

    1. Open a browser and visit www.office.com.
    2. You will see “Welcome to Office” and a Sign In button beneath. Click Sign In.
    3. Put in your IUP e-mail address where it asks for Username (username@iup.edu).
    4. Choose Work or School Account.
    5. You will be taken to the IUP Web Single Sign-On. Here you will enter your IUP network credentials. 
    6. After logging in, you will see “Install Office Apps,” where you can click the drop-down and choose to install all apps by clicking Office 2016.
    7. After downloading the installer, run the installer and Office will start installing in the background. Make sure you stay connected to the Internet while all of the apps are being installed.
    8. Upon completion of the installation, Office will pop up and tell you the installation is complete.
    9. Launch Word 2016 and enter your network credentials if asked. 

    Installation Notes

    • If you installed on Windows 7, you will see a new folder created in the start menu. The folder should be named Microsoft Office 2016.
    • If you installed on Windows 8.x you will need to go to the start screen and view all applications. By default, the installer does not add the applications to the start menu or task bar.
    • If you installed on Windows 10, you will see a new folder named Microsoft Office 2016 in the browser. Open the file to run the installer.
    • Mac installations will be guided through the installer. You will be prompted to either enter a key or sign in with an account. Click the Sign in with account option when prompted.
    • If you wish to de-authorize an installation, this can be done by following the steps below. Login to portal.office.com. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner. Click on Office 365 Settings. In the setting screen, click on Software. Click deactivate on the machine you wish to de-authorize under “Manage Installs.”

    Adding Additional Devices

    Office365 allows you to license up to five different devices. These devices can be any Android, iOS, OSX, or Windows device of your choosing. If you wish to license additional devices, here are ways you can do this. 

    MAC OSX and Windows Devices

    1. Open a browser window on a device you would like to use Office365.
    2. Visit Office.com.
    3. In the top right corner, click login.
    4. Use your network credentials to access office.com.
    5. Once you log in, you should be given the option to Install office 365 on the device. 
    6. Open the file from the browser. Office will install after the file is opened.

    IOS and Android

    1. Download the Office365 applications from the respective application stores.
    2. Once downloaded, sign in to the application with your credentials you created in the initial signup.
