Concert: IUP Trombone Studio Reunion

DiCicco Hall, Rm 121 Cogswell Hall

The IUP Department of Music will hold the Trombone Studio Reunion Concert today. 

This event is free admission. 

Join the IUP Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the arrival of spring with a special outdoor concert. Grab a spot in the Oak Grove and enjoy an afternoon of diverse musical selections. The rain date for this event is scheduled for May 2, 2021.

The Wind Ensemble will perform an evening of Chamber Winds and Flex-Band music for this concert. Our music will have something for everyone and be an aural representation of our human condition. Works will include:

  • Canon Fanfare Flexible Instrumentation by Steve Danyew
  • Remember Me by David Maslanka
    • Cello and Wind Ensemble; Linda Jennings, guest soloist
  • Biomimicry for wind octet by Roger Zare
    1. La Sagrada Familia
    2. Cetacean Energy
    3. Bullet Train
  • Point Break (Chamber Winds) by Paul Dooley

The wind ensemble is lead by Tim Paul, director of Bands.

Live public audience will be permitted. The event will also be live-streamed on the IUP Department of Music's YouTube Channel.

Dance Theater: “It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus”

Zink Auditorium

Join IUP Dance Theater as they unfold their unique rendition of It’s Just a Bunch of “Hocus Pocus.” On Halloween night, the Sanderson Sisters are brought back from the dead by curious youth who then find themselves pursued by the sisters. Throughout the night, the youth and a cat named Binx attempt to defeat the Sanderson Sisters.

Under the direction of Holly Boda-Sutton, IUP Dance Theater will tell their tale through original choreography on the Zink Dance Auditorium stage.

Clarinet Studio Recital

Cogswell Hall Courtyard

This is the spring concert for the IUP Clarinet Studio. The program will feature works for solo clarinet, small ensemble, and the Crimson Squawk Clarinet Ensemble.

**A live audience will be permitted consisting of public and IUP community members.**

The event is free and open to the public and will take place in the courtyard outside of Cogswell Hall. Bring a picnic dinner or snack!

Put on your comfortable shoes for this site specific "tour" of the campus and nearby community of Indiana, Pennsylvania which will be serving as the outdoor stage for this collaboration between campus and community groups. If walking isn't your style, other ways of enjoying the series of mini performances will be made available to audience members.

IUP Jazz Festival

Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

This is the twentieth anniversary of the IUP Jazz Festival. The IUP Jazz Band and the IUP Jazz Ensemble will perform. James Flowers, professor of saxophone, will be the featured soloist for the event.

A live audience of IUP community members only will be permitted.

The number of seats available will be based on the current COVID guidelines.

The 20th annual IUP Jazz Festival, featuring the IUP Jazz Band and the IUP Jazz Ensemble. The IUP Jazz band is led by James Flowers. Kevin Eisensmith directs the IUP Jazz Ensemble. The guest artist for this event will be trumpeter Scotty Barnhart. Scotty is the director of the Count Basie Orchestra and a renowned trumpet player.
