Switchtech Suite Lock FAQ
Answer to questions about the new Switchtech Suite Locks
Download the mobile app on your phone by searching on either the App Store or Google Play for best Switch Mobile Access. You can also download it via the links below:
Make sure to choose "Yes" to all questions during installation. Once it is installed and you start the app, it will ask you to enter your cell phone number or email address. You will receive a text or email with a code you will enter for verification.
Once the app is verified, click on the top where it says Select a Key and then click on the “+” sign to add a key.
Enter the key token for your Mobile Credential. You should be able to copy and paste the whole token into the app.
Click Submit after entering the token.
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Once your key token is accepted, the app will come up with an Activate button. To unlock a Switch Tech BlueTooth Lock:
-
Click the Activate button on the App, and the lock should blink green showing it's unlocked.
-
Touch the lock, and it will blink with a blue light showing that it has woken up.
-
You can then turn the Switch Tech Lock like a key and open the door.
If turning it one way doesn't work, turn it the other way. You do not turn the handle! Turn the green lit-up lock itself until it releases the latch and opens the door.
-
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Click the Activate button on the App and touch your phone to the proximity reader on the entrance/hallway.
-
The reader will show a green light and the app will show a green check mark.
-
The door should pull open. On hallway doors, you need to turn the handle to open the door.
You will receive an email with your token information. If you have questions or need a key token, please send an email to iup-resnet@iup.edu and we can answer your question or send you a token.
The system will generate a new token automatically and you’ll have to contact iup-resnet@iup.edu for your new token. Try not to do this after hours. Housing hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Contact your hall office staff (your RA) and they can let you into your room. Your RA will tell you what needs to be done to get your app working.
