Students should apply for graduation through MyIUP in the term preceding the one in which they expect to graduate. Please note, if you have questions about your eligibility for graduation, you should contact your academic advisor. Any deficiency discovered during the final advising session should be corrected by the student before the end of the add/drop period in the student’s final term.
Deadline Dates
- If the student plans to complete all degree requirements by the end of the fall term, applicants should apply for December graduation by April 15
- If the student plans to complete all degree requirements by the end of the winter term, applicants should apply for January graduation by April 15.
- If the student plans to complete all degree requirements by the end of the spring term, applicants should apply for May graduation by November 15
- If the student plans to complete all degree requirements by the end of the summer term, applicants should apply for August graduation by November 15
Students who have not completed the online application for graduation by the deadline may need to submit a paper application, which can cause a delay in diploma processing.
- May and August graduates are invited to participate in the May ceremony.
- December and January graduates are invited to participate in the December ceremony.
Application Process
In the MyIUP portal:
-
Log in to MyIUP. Go to All Cards and search for “grad.”
-
On the Getting Ready for Graduation card, select Apply for Graduate Graduation.
-
All current academic programs will be displayed under the Curriculum Selection. Select the program that you wish to apply for graduation. A separate application must be submitted for each program.
-
If your program is incorrect, you must contact the Registrar’s Office.
-
If you are listed as a confidential student, your name will not appear in the Commencement Program unless you notify the Registrar’s Office.
-
-
You must select a graduation date. Please note that the online graduation application can only be used until the graduation application deadline. After the deadline date, the online program is not active. If you are applying after the deadline date, you must contact the Dean’s Office of your program to petition for permission to graduate.
-
Confirm your attendance to participate in the University Commencement Ceremony by selecting Yes to reserve your spot. If you select No or Undecided and later want to change your response, please complete the change to graduation application form.
-
Select the name you would like displayed on the diploma.
-
Select the address type for the address to which you want your diploma sent after graduation. Enter any updates needed in the address fields. Please note that whatever address you enter here has no impact on the address(es) IUP currently has on record for you. This diploma mailing address does not update any address you have with the university. This is strictly for mailing your diploma.
-
Select Continue when the address is complete.
-
Review the application for accuracy. If you need to go back to the previous screen and update, you can use the back button at the bottom of the screen. Once reviewed, click Submit Request.
-
You should receive an acknowledgement that can either be printed or saved as a PDF for future reference.
-
Once you receive the acknowledgement, you can go back and apply for any additional program to receive the credentials, such as a dual degree, double major, or certificate. Each program requires a separate application.
