Welcome Week is a great time to connect with new friends, find your way around campus, and have some fun before the semester begins. Below is a daily schedule of events for your first week on campus.

Welcome Week Dining

North Dining Hall

  • August 16–17: 9:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • August 18–22: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • August 23–24: 9:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

Dining at the Hawk HUB, Crimson Café, and Folger Student Center will open on Monday, August 25, 2025.

  • Folger Late Night
    Enjoy competitive trivia games with prizes and freshly popped popcorn from a vintage machine. Hosted by the IUP Council on Spiritual and Religious Life. The Council on Spiritual and Religious Life recognizes and affirms the spiritual part of every human being. The CSRL functions as a representative body where people of all faiths will be welcomed and included as equal partners.

  • Craft Night with Reading Room of IUP
    Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of book-related crafts, engage in a book voting activity to help select our first club read, and learn about upcoming plans and activities for the semester. We will also provide snacks and refreshments for all participants. This event is designed to foster community, creativity, and enthusiasm for reading among our members, and we look forward to welcoming everyone.

  • Third Thursdays (HR/Off)
    Every third Thursday from April through September, the Indiana community is invited to gather at IRMC Park to enjoy live music and local eats! This month, the band Count Me In will be performing. There will also be delicious food for purchase from food trucks Leaping Leo’s and Mutiny Donuts. Bring a folding chair. Bring your neighbor. These events are free and open to the public.

  • Field Day at Co-op Park (HR/Off)
    Kick off the school year with a day of fun, friends, and fresh air at the Welcome Week Field Day! This event is FREE for all IUP students and is the perfect way to get outside and connect with new and old friends.

    The Field Day will be held at Coop Park, a beautiful setting with plenty of space to relax and play. There will be a wide range of activities to choose from, including:
    • Cornhole provided by the Catholic Student Association
    • Disc Golf
    • Gaga Ball, provided by Cru
    • Hike through White’s Woods with the Outdoors Club
    • Kickball
    • 5K Walk/Run Race, officially timed by Gingerbread Timing
      • Special Note: The 5K race has been canceled. Students are encouraged to enjoy a leisure run or walk on their own or with a group of friends during the field day. 

You’re also welcome to simply come and hang out! Bring a towel and catch some sun, get lost in a good book, or bring a game to play with friends. The goal is to have fun and make connections, so participation in the activities is not required.

Transportation: You can get to the event in one of two ways:

  • IUP Vans:
    • Free transportation will be available from the HUB Circle (next to Whitmyre Hall and the upper level of the Hadley Union Building). The address for the HUB is 319 Pratt Drive, Indiana, Pennsylvania 15701.
    • Vans will depart the HUB Circle at 1:30 p.m., 1:50 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.
    • Vans will depart from the College Lodge to return to campus at 5:30 p.m., 5:50 p.m., and 6:15 p.m.
  • Drive Yourself: Students with vehicles are welcome to drive to the event. The address for College Lodge/Coop Park is 226 Lodge Road, Indiana, Pennsylvania 15701. The park is only 5-7 minutes away from the Robertshaw parking lot. There is parking for the first 30 vehicles, and carpooling is encouraged.

    Capuchin Friars will be handing out free ice cream sundaes in the indoor hall while supplies last. Enjoy something sweet to close out Welcome Week!
