The faculty members in the Department of Undergraduate Studies and Student Success believe fervently in their missionto help undergraduate students prepare, succeed, and excel in their college studies. Whether their specialty is in math, reading, or study skills, our professors have years of experience helping students recognize their full potential.

We Offer a Variety of Student Services

  • Supplemental Instruction (SI): SI provides small-group study/review sessions for sections of courses with difficult content or high levels of failure and withdrawal rates. Peer leaders guide students on how to learn course content.
  • Walk-In Peer Tutoring: Trained paraprofessional peer educators provide individual and small group assistance with how to learn content for mathematics, natural sciences, and various liberal studies courses.
  • College Success Workshops: These workshops, led by trained peer educators, address a variety of study strategies and other academic success topics in small group settings.
  • Educational Advisement: Our professors provide students with both curricular and educational advisement.
  • Freshman Year Experience: A program of one-credit courses designed to help incoming freshman adjust to college classes and study
  • First-Year Seminars: Seminars to enhance the student experience and academic success at IUP
  • Linked Courses Program: Coordinates clusters of courses designed to form a learning community of students for whom course content may be linked by theme
  • Act 101 Program: Comprehensive first-year experience that is offered to students who qualify for the Pennsylvania State Act 101 Program
