The Center for Teaching Excellence offered the StrengthsQuest seminar by Dr. Chris Xaver on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

Discover your innate talents in this StrengthsQuest seminar! Dr. Chris Xaver, professor and program chair of Communications and Media Arts from Dryden, New York, led each participant to an understanding of his or her greatest natural talents. She also identified specific ways you can utilize your talents in teaching, mentoring, service, and/or scholarship. StrengthsQuest, a professional development program to enhance teaching effectiveness, is offered by the Gallup Organization, best known for the Gallup Poll.

One week prior to this seminar, each registrant will received, free of charge, a code to access the StrengthsFinder assessment. Participants completed this on-line assessment and brought the results—a list of their top five signature strengths—to the seminar. In this dynamic seminar, Dr. Xaver provided an interpretation of the various strengths and talents, explaining how they impact upon your work at IUP. It was fun and very interesting to identify participants' innate talents through StrengthsQuest. The program is growing in popularity on campuses across the country.
