Fall 2019 - Spring 2020

August - The Guided Mixer: Making the Most of Your PFF Experience

This introductory meeting offers an overview of the PFF certificate process, mentor-student relationships, and determining future goals and how the PFF certificate will assist. The meeting's goals also include cohort bonding of PFF members from multiple disciplines to foster future interdisciplinary relations and the opportunity to ask questions about certificate criteria.

September - Academic Life: What the Institution Wants

This workshop addresses the emphasis and expectations of the institution about teaching, research, and service. Issues identified by first year faculty members from across the nation are discussed (e.g., overwhelming demands, lack of collegiality, advising requirements, office hours, and student time consumption). An institutional overview will be discussed (e.g., shared governance, university administration structure and organization, various committee functions, etc.) as well as taking the first, yet extremely important steps towards tenure and promotion.

More workshops will be added soon.
