Description

Innovation and Inquiry is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, multimodal publication dedicated to showcasing the scholarship and research of undergraduate and graduate students and student-faculty collaboration at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The journal provides a credible, accessible platform for IUP students to disseminate original research across all academic disciplines, advancing their professional development and scholarly repertoire through the publication process. Innovation and Inquiry is committed to open access principles, ensuring that student research is freely available to the global academic community and the public, thereby maximizing the impact and reach of IUP student scholarship.

Innovation and Inquiry directly supports IUP Presidential Goal 4: Grow IUP’s Reputation and IUP’s new R2 status by providing a vehicle for promoting the production and publication of IUP-generated knowledge. The journal showcases the groundbreaking and innovative research emerging from IUP classrooms, laboratories, and creative spaces, elevating the university’s profile as a research institution.

The journal embodies IUP's commitment to student engagement and experiential learning by creating meaningful opportunities for students to navigate publication from conception through peer review to dissemination. Through this process, students develop critical scholarly skills, build professional portfolios, and contribute to their fields of study while still at IUP.

Revised manuscripts due from students January 30
Publication of Issue Spring Term

About the peer review process:

After your manuscript is submitted, it will go through the peer review process. This process is similar to what other professional journals do, where faculty and students will review your manuscript (without knowing who wrote it) and offer their feedback. You will have a chance to respond and revise. From there, your article will be reviewed by the editors and then moved into copyediting and layout for publication in the journal.

What if I don’t make the deadline?

Inquiry and Innovation is published annually in the spring term. If you are unable to submit or revise in time, we can still accept your submission for the next year’s issue.
