IUP is home to Pennsylvania’s first baccalaureate program in safety management. Today, the university offers an ABET-accredited BS in Safety, Health and Environmental Applied Sciences, an MS in Safety Sciences that meets the Board of Certified Safety Professionals standards as a Qualified Academic Program, and a PhD in Safety Sciences, the only hybrid safety sciences PhD in the nation.
As the officially designated agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for OSHA consultation services, IUP also offers a wide range of continuing education webinars for safety and construction professionals.
Students in IUP’s safety programs learn from professors with extensive professional expertise and academic research qualifications. IUP faculty sits on national committees such as ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals), AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) and continue to actively consult on current safety guidelines and regulations.
