IUP welcomes families to campus to spend time with their students at their home away from home. The day will be filled with various activities and events that allow families to spend time exploring campus.

Schedule of Events

Welcome and Family Check-In

Families can check in and enjoy a variety of activities, including:

  • Arts and crafts activities
  • Meet Norm
  • Family games
  • Music featuring IUP band members
  • Photo opportunities
  • Information table hosted by the Center for Civic Dialogue with Stephan Schaffrath

Planetarium Shows

Enjoy one of four planetarium presentations offered at:

  • 11:30 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m.
  • 12:30 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m.

Each show lasts approximately 20 minutes with a 10-minute transition between sessions. Seating is limited to 59 guests per show and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Library STEAM Activities

Beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Visit the IUP Libraries to:

  • Create custom stickers
  • Participate in a Hide-and-Seek adventure with Baby Norm

Family Weekend Scavenger Hunt

9:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

Explore campus, solve clues, and enjoy family-friendly fun throughout the day. Through Green Dot and sponsored by the Haven Project.

Family Bingo

7:30–9:00 p.m.

The HUB

Wrap up the day with an evening of Bingo and prizes.

Alumni Legacy Breakfast

This exclusive event is for families of current students whose parents and/or grandparents are proud IUP alumni.

Enjoy a complimentary breakfast while connecting with fellow legacy families, university leaders, and college representatives. Celebrate your family’s IUP tradition while learning about what’s new on campus and building connections with other legacy families.

Commonplace Coffee Family Weekend Pop-Up

IUP Alumni Authors Book Signing

Meet talented IUP alumni authors, purchase books, and have your copies personally signed during Family Weekend.
