Biography

Marty Savolskis is guest faculty of design and theater technology in the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. He is a Pittsburgh-based educator, choreographer, designer, and director. He’s worked in New York City; London, England; Columbus, Ohio; and Illinois. Currently, he’s an instructor at his family’s dance studio, Fran’s School of Dance in Munhall, and is also adjunct faculty at Community College of Allegheny County South Campus and Chatham University. Recently, Marty’s designs have appeared on the stages of the Benedum Center, Byham Theater, Heinz Hall, The Greer Cabaret, and Carnegie Mellon University. He has taught theater and dance at Point Park University, Carnegie Mellon University, California University of Pennsylvania, Illinois Central College, and The Ohio State University, where he attended graduate school. In Pittsburgh, he has directed and choreographed for the Heritage Players, McKeesport Little Theatre, Greensburg Civic Theater, CCAC, and East Allegheny High School. While in New York City, Marty was the production manager for the New York City Dance Alliance and Onstage New York, was a house manager for Manhattan Theatre Club, and was an IATSE crew member on Broadway’s productions of Beauty and the Beast and Wicked.
