Biography
Joshua Kelly is a director, actor, playwright, and scholar who received his PhD in Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he wrote on performance philosophy, dramatic theory, gender theory, and politics. As a scholar, he has coauthored a book chapter with Dr. Matthieu Chapman in Teaching Race in the European Renaissance: A Classroom Guide (2023), an article in Theatre History Studies Vol. 42 (2023), an article in The Thorton Wilder Journal (2023), as well as presented at national conferences including MATC and SETC. He has either acted, directed, or written for many theatres and colleges in hundreds of productions. Dr. Kelly also worked as a reader and judge for play selection for the New York Classic Theatre's 2020 New Visions Project, and his own plays have been short- and long-listed at several festivals and writer's theatres around the country.
