Theresa McDevitt is the Government Information and Outreach librarian. She serves as the coordinator of IUP's Pennsylvania State and United States depository library collections. IUP Libraries is a depository library for Pennsylvania and United States government documents.
McDevitt also serves as IUP's Outreach librarian, where she actively cultivating partnerships with university divisions and constituencies which share IUP Libraries' mission of promoting general and information literacy and student academic success.
Closely related to her duties of depository collection coordinator and outreach librarian is her role as subject bibliographer for the following departments:
- History
- Religious Studies
- Philosophy
- Women's Studies
Depository Library Information
IUP Libraries has been a depository library for Pennsylvania State (1972) and United States federal (1962) documents for many years. Historically, this collection included information in paper and other tangible formats. More recently, dissemination of government information has moved to electronic format, and access is now primarily over the internet to electronic versions of these key documents.
While a small separate collection of Pennsylvania state and federal documents remains, most documents in physical format will be found in IUP Libraries' reference, circulating, and serials collections.
The main access tool for government information in our collections is our Library Search on the Libraries' home page. Records for older paper documents and newer federal government documents in electronic format are added to our online catalog to make this important information source easily accessible. Outreach
As Outreach librarian, McDevitt seeks to develop and grow partnerships with university divisions and constituencies which share IUP Libraries' mission of promoting general and information literacy and student academic success.
