The University Museum at IUP invites you to an insightful Artist Talk with Brian Jones. This presentation will dive into the technical artistry of theater, specifically exploring how drawing and painting are used as tools to investigate concepts and communicate a creative vision from the stage to the audience.

Held in conjunction with the current exhibition, The Art of Theatre, the talk highlights the hidden craftsmanship and engineering required to build a believable, imaginary world.

The session will offer a rare look at the designer’s journey, moving from initial concept to physical execution. Jones will discuss the shifting purpose of artistic rendering—starting as a method of research and observation and evolving into a precise language used to transform a stage into a new reality. Attendees will learn how these creative processes bridge the distance between a designer’s intent and the final perception of the audience.

This event is free and open to the public.
