WIUP-FM is a 1600-watt, noncommercial, student-operated radio station owned by IUP. Students from a variety of majors volunteer as news announcers, sports play-by-play announcers, promotions and
production staff, and on-air program hosts. On-air hosting opportunities include several different music shows supported by an extensive music library of rock, urban, jazz, and classical. With the supervision of a faculty advisor from the Department of Communications Media, the station is managed by student volunteers who supervise
and train other students. While the station is student-run, the faculty advisor works with the student management and staff on programming and personnel decisions.
The station is a recognized campus activity, and more than 100 students from numerous majors are currently involved.
"The most significant 'growing' experience of my life was the years I spent at WIUP-FM.
It was where I learned how to be on the air, learned how to work with people and working there prepared me for the world of broadcasting.
I would not be where I am, working nearly 30 years in radio, without WIUP-FM.”
