December Commencement for Master’s and Doctoral Students

  • Commencement Ceremony: Saturday, December 16

    • 9:30 a.m.
    • Fisher Auditorium
    • Graduating students must report to Fisher by 8:30 a.m.

    Graduating Students RSVP Required for Commencement

    • Sign into MyIUP using your IUP network account.
    • Click the “Academics” link.
    • In the “Academic Record” section, click “RSVP for commencement ceremony.” (You’ll see this option only if you’ve applied for the current semester graduation.)

    Any students who RSVP's on or after December 1, 2017, may not see their name appear in the ceremony program, as final drafts will be sent to print on this date. It is strongly advised that you RSVP before December 1 to ensure your name appears in the program.

    Salute to Grads

    • Thursday, November 2, 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
    • Co-op Store
    • Purchase your cap and gown, order graduation announcements, and more.
  • The Commencement ceremony for December master’s, doctoral, and MFA students will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. in Fisher Auditorium.

    • Graduating students must report to the IUP Performing Arts Center by 8:30 a.m.
      • Doctoral and MFA students should report to Dressing Room A.
      • Master’s degree students should report to the Large Rehearsal Hall.

    Individuals will be on site to direct graduates to these line-up locations.

    Tickets are not needed for graduating students or guests for December Commencement.  May Commencement is a ticketed event.

    Immediately after the ceremony, President Michael Driscoll will host a reception honoring all graduates, families, and guests in the Blue Room, Sutton Hall.

    A professional photographer will be on hand to distribute information about purchasing photographs.

    Degree and Diploma Information

    If you have questions about whether or not you have met all degree requirements, please contact your graduate advisor immediately. Degrees are awarded by the School of Graduate Studies and Research, and diplomas will be mailed two to six weeks after grades are posted.

    Graduation Regalia

    Caps, gowns, and announcements will be available at the Salute to Grads event on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Co-op Store or during regular business hours at the Co-op.

    Guests With Special Needs

    There is predesignated special needs seating in Fisher Auditorium, and seating passes are not necessary. Special needs parking passes are available by contacting the School of Graduate Studies and Research, located in Room 101 of Stright Hall, or by calling 724-357-4511 no later than Monday, November 27, 2017. We cannot guarantee that requests made after that date can be accommodated.
