Federal Financial Aid

All military-affiliated students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the April 15 deadline each year to ensure that they receive maximum consideration for federal grants and students loans. Once the FAFSA is filed, federal grants and loans are automatically awarded based upon eligibility criteria; however, any FAFSA filer may cancel all or part of the student loan offerings by contacting the IUP Office of Financial Aid.

For federal loan and grant eligibility criteria, annual funding limits, and additional information, visit the IUP Office of Financial Aid.

Pennsylvania State Grant

FAFSA filers who are residents of Pennsylvania will also be provided an opportunity to apply for the Pennsylvania State Grant if their FAFSA is filed by the May 1 deadline each year. If your military service contributes to an inability to meet this deadline, you may contact PHEAA directly to inquire about the possibility of a deadline extension.

For more information regarding funding opportunities administered by PHEAA, review a summary of aid for military and the Pennsylvania National Guard.
