With all of our meetings online this semester, the Center for Teaching Excellence will be moving from Saturday Workshops to a series of mini-workshops that will count towards earning CTE Active/Active Plus participation credit.

The following is information about the first mini-workshop.

Strategies for Developing Productive Writing Habits and Writing for Publication

Faculty routinely struggle with finding time to write, making progress on writing projects, and staying positive about writing for publication; the pandemic has made writing for publication even more challenging. This workshop offers research-supported strategies for making successful progress on writing for publication, drawn from the body of research on expert academic writers as well as ongoing research on faculty writers by the presenter. We'll discuss successful models for making regular writing progress on publications including scheduling writing time, goal setting, writing groups, fostering positive dispositions, and help attendees develop a plan for a project they'd like to work on this term. The initial session will present strategies and a larger framework.

Two follow-up sessions will be open for faculty writers to check in on their goals, share progress and drafts, talk about their writing projects. If you plan to attend the follow-up sessions, please bring a piece of writing (no more than five pages) that you would like to discuss or get feedback on.

Facilitator
