Author Eligibility

Inquiry and Innovation accepts original scholarship from current Indiana University of Pennsylvania undergraduate and graduate students. We also accept collaborations between IUP students and faculty, as well as recent graduates (within one year of graduation). All submissions must have faculty advisor approval and support, who can verify the scholarly merit and originality of the work. This faculty advisor should indicate their verification by completing the faculty advisor approval form (sent through Infoready), which is a required component of submission for publication.

Eligible Submissions include:

  • Original research articles resulting from independent or collaborative research projects;
  • Scholarly analyses and literature reviews;
  • Technical and field reports;
  • Research posters from university symposia and conferences, adapted for publication with accompanying abstracts and expanded methodology sections;
  • Case studies and applied research.

Please note:

  • All work that includes human subjects must be accompanied by an IRB # and approval.
  • All work that includes animals or invertebrates must be accompanied by an IACUC # and approval.
  • All work must be created by the student(s) and not co-authored with AI (see our AI policy for more details).
  • Creative works (art, literary works) should still be submitted to The Oak Grove Review.

By submitting to Inquiry and Innovation, authors verify that the work has not been previously published or under review elsewhere and agree not to submit their work for publication elsewhere until review at this publication is complete.

Students are encouraged to submit their work for feedback to the Center for Scholarly Communication’s Scholarly Editing and Writing service prior to submission.
