Crystal Machado, faculty member in the Department of Professional Studies in Education, published an article with coauthor Cheryl Harris, a doctoral student in the Department. Their article, “Digital Support for Scholarly Writing: Tools that Don’t Break the Budget,” appears in Early Childhood Education Journal and is available through Springer.

The publication was developed for doctoral students and novice scholars, particularly those in the Global South, who often face financial barriers when accessing digital tools for academic writing. Machado and Harris highlight a range of effective, low‑cost technologies that support research organization, writing development, and the cultivation of a strong scholarly voice.
