Heide WitthoeftDepartment Chairperson

Heide Witthöft is an associate professor of German in the Department of Foreign Languages. She also serves as an advisor for students pursuing certificates in a foreign language.

She received her PhD in German from the University of Oregon in 1995. She also holds an MA in German and English philology from Ruprecht-Karls-Universitat in Heidelberg, Germany (1989).

Witthöft is the author of one book, Von Angesicht zu Angesicht: Literarische Spiegelszenen (New York: Peter Lang, 1998), and she has published articles on German fairy tales, Rainer Maria Rilke, and German movie director Roland Emmerich.

She has presented papers on German fairy tales, Rainer Maria Rilke, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Stefan Zweig, Lou Andreas-Salomé, Martin Opitz, and Roland Emmerich at local, national, and international conferences. Her research interests include German fairy tales, nineteenth- and twentieth-century German and Austrian literature, and German film.
