Police officers in Pennsylvania are required to complete 12 hours of mandatory in-service training annually in order to maintain their certification. Courses are determined by the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission, and certified
schools offer the courses in various locations.
Since the courses are mandatory, there is a minor charge for municipal police officers. Other law enforcement agencies such as campus police, sheriff’s offices, and school police must purchase vouchers through MPOETC in order to send officers to the classes. An
individual must show a current police certification card or a voucher to participate in the class.
Please see updated registration fee information for 2020.
