Special Programs

A college education built around a core curriculum and specific discipline of study is a solid starting point for career success.

But at IUP, you may also choose from a variety of special programs that go beyond professional preparation and allow you to develop the leadership, organizational, and other skills you need to make a real difference in the lives of others.

Sustainability Studies

The Sustainability Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that draws from expertise across the university. The program conceptualizes "sustainability" as an interdisciplinary approach to knowledge production and action that focuses on "the health and integrity of human societies and the natural world."

Upward Bound

The Upward Bound Math Science Program is one of eight federal TRIO programs authorized by the Higher Education Act of 1965 to help low-income Americans enter college, graduate, and move on to participate more fully in America's economic and social life.

Women's and Gender Studies

The Women's and Gender Studies minor increases students' interdisciplinary knowledge about the gendered nature of women's experiences and the ways that all genders are shaped by history, culture, and society. In order to achieve this goal, it offers courses using a variety of theories and methodologies and from a range of academic disciplines.
