Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Career Fair
The annual IUP Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Career Fair will be on September 25, 2025.
There will be a Meet and Greet event with the students on the evening of Wednesday, September 24, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
On Thursday, September 25, there will be a luncheon for recruiters at 11:00, and the Career Fair will run from 12:00 to 2:30. Rooms for interviewing students will be held following the career fair on September 25 and all day on September 26, if interested.

IUP’s Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Department has been awarded a $950,000 US Department of Labor OSHA Susan Harwood Training Grant to provide free safety training on critical workplace safety topics, including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Inhalation and Absorption Hazards, to small businesses in Pennsylvania.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved former secretary, Jolene Campbell. Jolene was the heart of our office—someone who naturally brought people together and made everyone feel welcome.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is addressing a need for trained professionals in the biosafety and biosecurity fields through its specialized Biosafety/Biorisk Management Certificate program.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Safety Sciences American Society of Safety Professionals student section has been named the Outstanding Student Section of the Year by the American Society of Safety Professionals. The honor comes with a $5,000 award from the ASSP to fund scholarships and research.
Elizabeth Kinney, a senior at Cambria Heights Senior High School and daughter of Mike Kinney and Pauline Kinney, of Dysart, is a 2023 recipient of an IUP Dean’s Merit Scholarship to study safety sciences at IUP based on her research project, “Slip Resistance,” sponsored by New Pig, of Tipton.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received more than $460,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture to develop a specialized Biosafety/Biorisk Management Certificate program at IUP.
The MEMIC Group, specialists in workers’ compensation insurance, has awarded $30,000 to a faculty research team in IUP’s Department of Safety Sciences to investigate ways to limit workplace slips, trips, and falls.

It is with deep regret that the Department of Safety Sciences announces the passing of Robert McClay, Jr., who joined IUP in the summer of 1972 as the first tenure-track faculty member in the newly formed Department of Safety Sciences.
The Department of Safety Sciences congratulates its fall 2020 Provost Scholars. To be named a Provost Scholar, students must have earned a minimum of 45 semester hours at IUP with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Provost Scholar recognition is given only once during a student’s time of study at IUP.
The Department of Safety Sciences will host a Virtual Career Fair on Thursday, October 15, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
