Starting with the fall 2026 semester, IUP implemented Lounge as its student engagement platform. Lounge, a more mobile-friendly platform than the previously used Crimson Connect, is for students, clubs and organizations, and campus departments to promote their events.
Besides its sleek, mobile-friendly look, Lounge also offers users more opportunities to track student participation. Students can RSVP for an event of interest, and Lounge tracks their participation. All students are encouraged to sign up for Lounge to browse events, join student groups, and connect with a community of students who share similar interests.
Student clubs and organizations should use the platform to promote their events, and it also provides all the tools needed to plan them, such as purchase requests and forms. Direct messaging within the platform simplifies student communication by eliminating the need for additional communication platforms, such as GroupMe. Campus departments should use Lounge to optimize event attendance, and its push notifications serve as a call to action. Lounge also encourages real-time participation through polls, chats, event feeds, and announcements.

IUP student and chief justice for the Student Government Association, Nneoma Uchendu, is already seeing benefits to utilizing Lounge. “I believe that the Lounge platform is helping us at IUP increase the level of student leadership amongst all student groups,” Uchendu said. “Students have more direct access to learning about how to build their organization’s platform, run their organizations effectively, and especially in engaging other students.”
Like many students, Uchendu and her organization adopted Lounge at the beginning of the semester, and she can already notice a marked increase in student engagement. So, whether you’re a student, organization member, or campus department, be like Nneoma and start using Lounge today.
