The 2020-21 school year is quickly ending. With all of its challenges, we have lots of bright spots at IUP. One such accomplishment is the IUP Guide Program. If you haven't had a chance to read about the program, we encourage you to do so.

The Student Support and Engagement Team, who manages the Guide Program, would like to thank everyone who has supported their efforts. From President Michael Driscoll, Vice President for Student Affairs Thomas Segar, and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Malaika Turner to all divisional vice presidents, we couldn't have had such a successful first year without your support. For our current Guides: Thank you! Your dedication to our students in volunteering to be part of this initiative is overwhelming.

We now look to next fall and are calling on any person employed by the university (staff, faculty, and managers) to volunteer to be a Guide. Next year, we will continue to focus our efforts solely on new first-year and transfer students (and students who get referred to the program).

As a Guide, you are required, at minimum, to connect with your assigned student cohort no less than three times a semester to check in and offer your assistance, should they need it. This year, many of our Guides went above and beyond that minimal requirement. The SSET co-chairs will provide a very brief training in August to prepare you for the position.

So, if you enjoy working with students and want to make a difference, please consider signing up through this form.
