Brigadier General Robin P. SwanClass of 1978

Colonel Robin P. Swan is currently serving as the director, Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate, Futures Center, Training and Doctrine Command. Prior to this assignment, Colonel Swan served on the Army Staff as the director, Army Transformation Office within the G-3/5/7.

He is a distinguished military graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, the School of Advanced Military Studies, and Joint Professional Military Education Phase II of the Armed Forces Staff College. He was also National Security Program Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Colonel Swan commanded Warrior Brigade at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and served as deputy commander, Task Force Warrior in Taszar, Hungary, for training of Free Iraqi Forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also commanded 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry and Task Force 1-26 during IFOR and SFOR operations in Bosnia in 1996-1997.

Other assignments include numerous leadership and staff positions at Fort Stewart, Georgia; Garlstedt, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served a joint assignment as the strategy officer on the Commander's Staff Group, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

Colonel Swan's awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (3OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NATO Medal, and the Expert Infantryman Badge.

He is married to the former Alice Marie Stemann and they have three children, Robin, Mary, and Hannah.
