Colleagues,

I am saddened to share news of the passing of student Norman Bova on Saturday, April 23. Mr. Bova, of Wilmerding, was completing his teaching certification.

A visitation with friends and family of Mr. Bova will be held today, Tuesday, April 26, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service and celebration at 8:00 p.m. at the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home, Inc., 702 7th Street, Trafford. Tributes and remembrances can be posted online through the funeral home.

The death of someone you knew can evoke strong feelings. The best way to cope is to talk to your closest friends, family members, or trusted teachers. There are people among us who have experienced similar events, and they are often more than willing to help others going through difficult circumstances.

Students who would like to speak with an IUP counselor may call the IUP Counseling Center at  724-357-2621. Counselors are available for crisis appointments and consultation and to offer guidance and support during difficult times.

After traditional business hours, students can contact the Armstrong-Indiana 24-hour Crisis Line at 877-333-2470 for support.

Members of IUP’s Council on Spiritual and Religious Life also are available to help. Please email spiritual-life@iup.edu to have a campus minister provide support.
