Colleagues,

I am saddened to share with you news of the death of Patrick McCreary, a faculty member in the Department of Theater and Dance, on Thursday, May 12.

Mr. McCreary joined the IUP community in August 1983 and served as faculty technical director in 1987 and 1988, when Waller Hall was transformed from a gymnasium to one of the finest flexible theater spaces in the region. He directly assisted with the renovation, and its sound construction is due in large part to his work. Mr. McCreary touched the lives of hundreds of students during his time at IUP.

Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home in Indiana (500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana).

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at IUP's Waller Hall (401 South 11th St.) followed by a celebration of life. Persons are asked to bring stories and memories to share. All are welcome.

The family is working with the university to set up a scholarship in honor of Mr. McCreary, based on his wishes. For more information about donating to this fund, contact Anthony Cancro at 724-357-2380.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Driscoll
