It is with sadness that I share with you that Mary Jo Lyttle, director of the Office of Alumni Relations, died Monday, December 21.
Mary Jo, who held two degrees from IUP, joined the university staff in 1989, serving as the assistant director of Alumni Relations until 1992, when she was selected as the director.
Over the past 27 years, she has been instrumental in building a strong network of volunteers for the IUP Alumni Association, has led the association's board in building revenue streams to support alumni programming, and has led the staff and the board through two strategic planning processes that continue to shape the association. She has been active in many university committees and events.
She is survived by her husband, Kim, and their two children, Tom, a sophomore at IUP, and Chrissy, 14; her parents; and a brother and sister-in-law.
Funeral arrangements are private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
