It is with sadness that I write to inform you of two student deaths which occured over the winter break period:
- Scott T. Millar Jr., a sophomore Physical Education and Sport major from Hellam, on December 27, 2009, at Memorial Hospital. Mr. Millar was enrolled for the Spring 2010 semester. A funeral service was held December 31, 2009.
- Angela Martin, a freshman from Kittanning, on January 7, 2010, following injuries from a traffic accident. A memorial service for Ms. Martin was held January 10.
The death of any member of the IUP community is tragic and difficult to bear. I am sure you join me in expressing concern and sympathy for Mr. Millar and Ms. Martin's friends and families.
The IUP Counseling Center provides counseling to students. Students may make an appointment with the Counseling Center by calling 724-357-2621 or by visiting the center at the Suites on Maple East, Room G-31, during office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when classes resume on January 19, 2010.
