I wish to inform you that IUP has recently agreed to participate in the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA).

The VSA stems from a partnership between the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC). The purpose of the VSA project is to:

  1. Provide consistent, comparable, and transparent information on the undergraduate student experience to key higher education stakeholders, including prospective students and their families, public policy-makers, legislators and campus faculty and staff,
  2. Improve public understanding of how public colleges and universities operate, and
  3. Affirm the significance of the many diverse missions of U.S. higher education.

The VSA includes a “College Portrait” which is a five-page document organized by:

  1. Student and Family Information
  2. Student Experiences and Perceptions [National Survey of Student Engagement]
  3. Student Learning Outcomes [Collegiate Learning Assessment]

The IUP College Portrait will be available and accessible through our web in April. If you would like further information please visit the Voluntary System of Accountability website.

Sincerely,
Tony Atwater
