Emergency phones, sometimes referred to as blue light phones, are located in seventy-three locations throughout the university.

There are three styles of emergency phones.

  • The first style is the free-standing phone, with single push-button activation and blue strobe light for easy identification.
  • The second style phones are located inside small boxes on the outside of various university buildings beneath blue lights. When the box is opened and the receiver picked up, a call is automatically made to the University Police dispatcher.
  • The third phone, which is blue and also has a blue emergency light above it, is located in various university buildings.

All three styles of emergency phones are identifiable by the University Police dispatcher, who will know the exact location of the phone which has been activated, even if the caller is unable to speak. A police officer will be dispatched immediately to that location.
