Dear IUP Students,

I hope this message finds you well as we approach the final weeks of the spring semester.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for keeping the IUP community safe by practicing social distancing, wearing masks, and refraining from large gatherings. Our COVID-19 numbers continue to be low. I commend you all for staying the course as we anticipate returning to campus in-person for the fall.

In light of April 5 and 6 as non-class days, I know that some students plan on traveling this weekend. This is an excellent opportunity to remind you that free testing continues at the KCAC, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Even if you don't have any COVID-19 symptoms and you have been careful not to be exposed to others, you should consider getting tested, especially if you plan on traveling during this long weekend; we want to help you to keep you, your family, and your friends safe.

As test results are available 24 to 48 hours after testing, it is best to get tested as soon as possible. You should pre-register for testing on the COVID-19 testing portal. If you do travel, we highly recommend that you get tested upon your return to campus next week and self-quarantine until you get your results.

For students who may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please contact Health Services via email at health-inquiry@iup.edu or by phone at 724-357-2550 to arrange testing. Again, testing at Health Services is only for symptomatic individuals.

If you choose to remain on campus during non-class days, facilities remain open to you.

  • The IUP Libraries, while closed on Sunday, April 4, are open April 5 and 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • North Dining Hall will remain open on Saturday, April 3, and Sunday, April 4, but other dining locations will be closed. All dining facilities at IUP will return to regular hours of operation starting Monday, April 5.

This semester has been challenging, but your dedication to IUP and each other's safety is evident. You have all made sacrifices throughout recent months, and I recognize what you have done. It has made a great deal of difference to keeping us safe and well. Thank you. Please continue to stay the course. I know that we can finish this semester strong as one united IUP Hawks Family.

Sincerely,
Thomas Segar
