Crimson Brass, a quintet composed of IUP freshmen music majors, will perform a recital of brass chamber music.

This young driving force in Nordic world music draws inspiration from folk and traditional Scandinavian music and reshapes it with an endlessly innovated and contemporary approach. The Dreamers’ Circus trio musicians Nikolaj Busk (Denmark, piano and accordion), Ale Carr (Sweden cittern), and Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (Demark, violin)—display inventiveness and talent in their approach to performances. Based in music from Denmark and Sweden as well as Iceland, Finland, and the far reaches of the windswept Faroe Islands, they view these traditional roots merely as a point of departure from which to expand. In playing, they seek to unlock imaginations and allow the mind to wander to a place where stories unfold. The name of the band is no accident. The magical feel upon entering the circus tent, surrounded by vividly colored memories… Dreamers’ Circus strives to engage your senses and invoke a place of freedom, somewhere for our imagination to play in and a space for dreaming.

Join the IUP Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the arrival of spring with a special outdoor concert. Grab a spot in the Oak Grove and enjoy an afternoon of diverse musical selections. The rain date for this event is scheduled for May 2, 2021.

The IUP Symphony Orchestra will take you on a symphonic voyage with music from around the world. We’ll parade and dance through the streets of Mexico, marvel at the grandeur of Finland, and sail the high seas of the Caribbean. The orchestra, conducted by Alexandra Dee, will be joined by IUP horn professor Heidi Lucas to perform Hovhaness’s Artik concerto for horn, an ode to the composer’s ancestral homeland of Armenia.

The Wind Ensemble will perform an evening of Chamber Winds and Flex-Band music for this concert. Our music will have something for everyone and be an aural representation of our human condition. Works will include:

The wind ensemble is lead by Tim Paul, director of Bands.

Senior music major, Elary Mede, performs a solo voice recital. A limited audience of students, faculty, and staff will be permitted.

This is the spring concert for the IUP Clarinet Studio. The program will feature works for solo clarinet, small ensemble, and the Crimson Squawk Clarinet Ensemble.

The Keystone Chamber Players will perform a diverse program, featuring works by Cheetham, Arnold, Zare, Stamp, and Broughton. This program will be live-streamed only and broadcast on the IUP Department of Music YouTube Channel

Join the saxophone studio for their spring recital! You’ll hear a mix of saxophone quartets, large ensembles, and a solo work or two.

Graduate student Michael Bruno will present a masters conducting recital.

IUP Trombone Studio Alumnus Greg Chenoweth presents a recital of music for trombone and piano.

A live, public audience will be permitted and the event will be live streamed.

Put on your comfortable shoes for this site specific "tour" of the campus and nearby community of Indiana, Pennsylvania which will be serving as the outdoor stage for this collaboration between campus and community groups. If walking isn't your style, other ways of enjoying the series of mini performances will be made available to audience members.

The IUP String Project Student Recital will feature the students of the String Project playing solo and ensemble works.

Heidi Lucas, horn and Henry Wong Doe, piano present a program of works for horn and piano.

The 20th annual IUP Jazz Festival, featuring the IUP Jazz Band and the IUP Jazz Ensemble. The IUP Jazz band is led by James Flowers. Kevin Eisensmith directs the IUP Jazz Ensemble. The guest artist for this event will be trumpeter Scotty Barnhart. Scotty is the director of the Count Basie Orchestra and a renowned trumpet player.

This is the twentieth anniversary of the IUP Jazz Festival. The IUP Jazz Band and the IUP Jazz Ensemble will perform. James Flowers, professor of saxophone, will be the featured soloist for the event.
