In preparation for the launch of the redesigned iup.edu website, the Digital Team will begin making changes to various pages and sites in the CMS starting in early October.

To prevent changes from being published too soon and to allow time to review and test, we'll be making some temporary changes to our publishing schedule and editing access through the month of October. During the first part of the month, the impact on editing and publishing will be low. During the week before and the week of launch, the impact will be high.

October 4–20: Low Impact*

Most publishing will happen normally; select pages (those we are editing, including department homepages and existing program pages/sections), will have limitations on publishing. No changes to access.

Starting October 21 through Launch: High Impact*

Access will be restricted and publishing will be limited to emergencies only (requests via ihelp) starting Friday, October 21. It will remain restricted through the week of October 31.

Update**: Access to the CMS will be opened for editing October 21 - November 2. Access and publishing will be resticted again November 3 through the week of November 7, other than emergencies.

October 4–20: Low Impact

During the October 4–20 time period, you will still be able to edit your site, and submit news, events, files, and other updates as you normally do. The change is that we will not be publishing the entire site once a week.

You may need to request additional pages be published when making some changes for all changes to be published. Consider these scenarios:

  • I created a new event. I want it to appear on my department's/office's events page.
    • In this case, the event itself will be published and live on the Events site within a day. However, you may need to submit your events page (or reach out to us) to have it published as well.

  • I added a file to my site that needs to be available on a non-program page.
    • There would be no changes to this scenario. Submit the file and the page you are adding the link as you normally do.

  • I added a file/have an update for a program page
    • As we're making edits to these pages, you'll need to submit an ihelp ticket for help with these changes.

  • I submitted a news item that I need live on my website
    • Your news item and the news page for your site will be published normally. However, if we've already edited your department's homepage, we'll reach out to you to discuss. (We'll be able to get it updated for urgent scenarios, but it may not be immediate.)

October 21 through Launch: High Impact

From October 21 through launch week, publishing will be limited to emergencies only. Access to the CMS will be restricted. Should an emergency need to publish an edit or create a new item arise, please submit an ihelp ticket with your request. As we are making large-scale changes to the site overall and to specific pages, we ask that only true emergencies be submitted.

Editing access will not be restricted earlier than October 17.

If you know you have items that need to be live for the period of launch, please be sure to complete them before October 20*.

Update**: Access to the CMS will be opened for editing October 21 - November 2. Access and publishing will be resticted again November 3 through the week of November 7, other than emergencies.

We'll update you via email when your access is restored to the CMS post-launch. (FYI, the editing experience/process post-launch will be the same as before; your pages will just have the new designs applied to them.)

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important (and exciting!) changes to the website. If our launch is delayed, the dates above will be adjusted. We’ll give web maintainers at least a week’s notice of any change to our launch schedule and access changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Digital Team at web-team@iup.edu or Jessie Groll at jgroll@iup.edu.
