The Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program have six hospitality management-focused scholarships to award. Generous donors have given money to the Foundation for IUP, from which these scholarships are given.
Awardees are chosen from the Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program based upon each scholarship’s unique criteria; therefore, no applications are required to be completed by students. Awardees will be notified via an award letter in which students will accept or decline the award.The following scholarships awarded to Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program students are:
Laura Mateer Scholarship
- Freshman standing
- Hospitality Management major
- Top 25 percent of high school graduating class
- Continuance for the second semester requires a 2.5 GPA at end of first award semester
- Evidence of financial need
Elizabeth LaVelle Scholarship
- Full-time Hospitality Management major
- SAT score of 1000 minimum
- Continuance requires maintenance of 3.0 GPA at the end of spring of each academic year
- Evidence of financial need
William G. Gressley Memorial Scholarship
- Hospitality Management major
- Minimum of 25 earned credits at time of award
- Continuance for the second semester requires a 2.5 GPA at the end of first award semester
- Active in departmental activities/clubs
Scanian-Reilly Scholarship
- Full-time Hospitality Management major
- Sophomore, junior, or senior standing
- 3.0 GPA at time of award
- Continuance for the second semester requires a 3.0 GPA at end of first award semester.
Patricia Brown Simkins and Ronald E. Simkins Scholarship
- Full-time Hospitality Management major
- Sophomore standing at time of use
- Earned a minimum IUP GPA of 3.0 at time of selection
Pennsylvania Broker's Association Scholarship
- Hospitality Management major
- Allegheny County resident
- 3.0 GPA at time of award
